Rx, Baby

I don’t know if it’s a common experience, or if we’ve been staring at light bulbs too long, but just about everyone in my family wears prescription glasses of some kind. I can tell my vision is going, which is not fun for a writer and bookworm. That’s why I was so jazzed when I [...]

Kotatsu?

Posted by Laota On January 30, 2008 ADD COMMENTS

After years of wondering what the heck I’ve been seeing in Japanese movies, today, I found out what kotatsu are. They’re low, wooden table frames covered by a futon, or heavy blanket, with a table-top surface on top, and — get this — a heater built into the frame. How cool is that? A person [...]

Collier has been performing laparoscopic surgery for over seventeen years after learning about the health benefits patients often achieve with this procedure. Finally completed my Sims Haunted Mansion, and it’s so good, it wigged Faith right out! (In fact, I might post screen shots of it soon — maybe?) The only design element in it’s construction that isn’t from Maxis is my old “Wall-to-Wall Creeps” wallpaper, drawn off the original Bradbury & Bradbury (“Ashes of Rose”?) wallpaper [...]

Obey My Wok!

Posted by Laota On January 18, 2008 ADD COMMENTS

Faith and I are finally getting a for-really wok! It’s hand-hammered carbon steel — not Teflon — with a wooden handle, and comes with accessories, like a skimmer, metal utensils, a bamboo cleaning brush, and a bunch of chopsticks! We’ve been wanting a wok for so long, and it’s such a good price. Hooray!

Didn’t mean to scare you, but Valentine’s is nigh at hand, so what are you thinking about getting the family to celebrate? Coupon Chief has up to date coupon codes and promotional deals and [...]

Swim, Baby!

Posted by Laota On January 18, 2008 ADD COMMENTS

I’ve been missing out on swimming for years, but I fully intend to buy a pool pass this summer! I’ve been looking for swimsuits today, but it’s so expensive and the all look like crap. Why can’t humans design a decent swimsuit? I guess I’m just gonna have to get separates or make my own, [...]
